If you’re interested in becoming a site coordinator for this year’s REC Earth Day cleanup, you need to get your application in by March 16. This year you can enter your application via a Google Form (though there might be a slight delay between your asking permission to update it and receiving the permission).
If this is something that you’re interested in but you’re nervous about starting, please read a short guide to beginning cleanups in your neighborhood; I’ve listed some additional tips here and here. The first year is the most difficult, and don’t feel like you need to go it alone — there are a lot of people who are available to help you.
If you’re interested in being a site coordinator but don’t know which site to pick, I’d like to suggest the side of Coes Pond on Mill Street across from the old Price Chopper. There’s always trash along the shore, it’s a site that could be done with just a few volunteers, and it’s something that would look a lot better after just a few hours’ work.
